Yum! Highly recommend and will come back for more helpings of deliciousness! Thank you!
Everything here is great and the steaks are good too but the other food and drinks are the stars. Their crab cake was the best we've ever had, their brussels sprouts were unreal, we had the best old fashioned and espresso martinis ever, and their butter pie is a star I would go back just for that alone. Staff was great and the vibe and lighting there is so romantic.
Our best dining experience! Home to our annual family Christmas dinner, birthdays or a special evening.
I'm honestly surprised I've never tried this place before. It's a true Cincinnati staple, and you know that if a place has Jeff Ruby's name on it, it's gonna be epic. This place has been named "best splurge" in Cincinnati by Citybeat numerous times and for good reason. If you want incredible steaks, this place is a top pick. My boss invited my lady and I out to dinner here. The building to this place was built in 1901 as a police patrol house and is listed as a historic building. The inside still has that classic historic feel all around. It's definitely not a huge building but does have lots of seating. The bar upstairs is really cool and almost has a speakeasy feel to it but without the password to get in. Of course their menu is mainly about big steaks but there are other options as well. Their wine menu is HUGE and loaded with great choices in all price ranges. They also have a menu with beer, spirits, and specialty cocktails. Our server, Howie, was absolutely awesome. He took the time to explain all of the menu and made great recommendations. Here's everything my lady and I enjoyed: Wine: -La Rioja Alta Vina Ardanza Reserva 2017 tempranillo (Bottle) Appetizer: -West coast Oysters Dinner: -Barrel Cut Filet Mignon with a side of garlic mashed potatoes & Freddie Salad -Herb Crusted Filet with a side of garlic mashed potatoes & Freddie Salad Everything from start to finish was incredible. The oysters were super fresh, the steaks were cooked to perfection, and the wine we picked paired amazingly well with it all. We couldn't even finish it all so we had some to take home. And though we didn't think we had room for any dessert, Howie highly recommended we try their peppermint ice cream, so we decided to have a couple scoops, and it was excellent. The peppermint wasn't overpowering at all. In fact I'd say it was just right and a great finish to an amazing meal. I'd definitely come here again for a splurge dinner. I might opt to sit in the bar area next timr if there's a table available. No wonder this place is such a Cincinnati staple and has been around for so long.
So it's been a good 13 years since I've dined at this location. I sure missed it and glad I returned. I regret not coming over the years. They are still and remain a 5 star restaurant. My Mr.'s boss invited us to dine with him and his wife (Christmas dinner treat). We dined on a Wednesday night. Our server was Howie. Excellent server and very detailed with the menu. The inside is gorgeous as always. Love the nostalgia decor and the red lighting that gives it police station vibes but not overwhelming. Looks like the menu changed but not much. They still have a la carte but now with the meals we get a side and salad. Me and My Mr. ordered: Wine: La Rioja Alta Vina Ardanza Reserva 2017 (Bottle) Appetizer: West coast Oysters Dinner: -Barrel Cut Filet Mignon with a side of garlic mashed potatoes & Freddie Salad (Mr) -Herb Crusted Filet with a side of garlic mashed potatoes & Freddie Salad (Me) Everything was perfect. The oysters were earthy and fresh. The steak was cooked medium rare and was super juicy. The sides and salads were amazing. Loved the wine paired with my meal. I couldn't finish my steak that I had to take it home. We didn't have room for dessert but our server Howie was nice enough to serve us peppermint ice cream and cookie cake. That was awfully nice. What an awesome experience. I'm still thinking about it. This was my Mr's first time dining in and he enjoyed it. Definitely returning and can't wait to try the other items on the menu.
I would recommend anyone to stop by and have a drink and take in the atmosphere. It's a beautiful place. The service is top notch. That said, we went for dinner last night. We shared a ribeye, had the Freddie salad, and got Mac and cheese, mushrooms, and creamed spinach. We had three drinks between the two of us. We got a free iced cookie cake for our anniversary. The salad was great if not just a touch drenched in ranch. The ranch was incredible though. The ribeye was good. Cooked well. It wasn't really seasoned though. It was not worth the $95 it cost. The Mac and cheese was good, but so rich a few bites would suffice. We took it home and had it again tonight and still couldn't finish it. The mushrooms had a strong horseradish taste, which was a bit off putting. The creamed spinach was incredible. By far the standout dish for us. I'm eating the leftover cookie right now. It held up. The bread and butter was excellent as well. I'd probably not do a full dinner here again just due to the cost being high for what it was in my opinion.
Great fine dining steakhouse with top-notch service from our server Dallas and his crew. Everything we had was great from start to finish. Steak Collinsworth is a staple of their menu and I can understand why. Steak melted like butter and was coated with 2 sauces and topped with crab meat. The butter pie at the end is a MUST, one of the best desserts I've ever had, was stuffed at ate the whole things... oops. Definitely pricey but the quality justifies the price, have to treat yourself everyone once in a while am I right?!
Service: expect the same service as the show the Bear where the front of staff was trained. Everyone from the waitress to the servers were all incredibly sociable, professional and funny. They are hiring the best people and training them so well. They run a tight ship and you can expect some of the best service of any Cincy restaurant here. They will accommodate requests and if you call ahead will make particular dishes for you. For example, my mom asked for chimichurri and although it wasn't on the menu they made it from scratch for her. The only thing I am confused about was after leaving this review i received the below comment saying that I should contact them. After doing so, I never got a reply. Strange. Ambiance: absolutely stunning & clean. Such a cool atmosphere and feel. I could imagine Ron Swanson from Parks & Rec being a regular there and fitting right at home. Food: 1. Max & cheese: they had me at 5 imported cheeses. Super dense and delicious. Pasta perfectly cooked. 2. Brussels: good not great 3. Complimentary salad: unreal. Small bacon bits provided a nice smokiness to the salad. Legit my favorite part of the meal. 4. Garlic mash potatoes: good not great 5. Steak: I got the spice rub to go on top and while it was spicy and flavorful, it got old after a few bites. The flavor of the delmonico steak was amazing but the temp by the time I got to the center was near raw. I however was stuffed and knew I would reheat it so didn't say anything. 6. Bread: fresh rye and sour dough. Can't go wrong with a little truffle butter. All in all, this was a classic steak house vibe, exceptional service. The food wasn't the best I've had in Cincy but was still very good. The service no doubt is the crown of this spot.
What a great event! We had our daughter's rehearsal dinner at the Precinct, and the food was not only phenomenal, but the service was outstanding. The appetizers were delish. The baby crabcakes and the Wagyu meatballs were so good. The shrimp was somehow even bigger and more delicious than normal. Every steak (and there were about 50 of them) were cooked perfectly. There were a lot of people and all of the servers had such great patience. The bartenders were amazing. Jen, Jordan, Howie and everyone did such a fantastic job! Best celebration! Thank you to all at Precinct!
